Nature Restoration in Action at Brigit’s Garden
Sunday 16th August, 11am-12.45pm Free of charge, donations welcomed
An interactive guided walk with Jenny Beale, Director of Brigit’s Garden, to see the wildflower meadows, native woodland areas, hedgerows and ponds that have been created and restored to make biodiversity hot-spots. Jenny will share the stories of the habitats and what they learned along the way, showing what can be done to support nature even in limited spaces.
Wonderful Wildflowers guided walk at Brigit’s Garden

Enjoy a guided walk through the wonderful variety of wildflower meadows at Brigit’s Garden and appreciate their importance for biodiversity. Expert Dolores Keegan will help identify a wide range of wild plants and Jenny Beale of Brigit’s Garden will share tips on how to successfully grow both annual and perennial meadows.
Ideal for anyone interested in growing wildflowers in their gardens or community spaces.

Guided Butterfly walk at Brigit’s Garden

Join ecologist Caitriona Carlin on an interactive butterfly walk through the wildflower meadows of Brigit’s Garden. Learn how to identify a variety of butterfly species and about the food plants you can grow to support these lovely insects.

Wildlife Gardening for birds, bees and butterflies

Gardens are important for wildlife and this practical workshop will show you how to turn your garden or community space into a vibrant home for butterflies, birds, bees and other pollinators. Expert Kay Synott will cover simple, cost-effective measures for providing food, water and shelter for a range of wildlife, and advise on the best plants. Ideal for gardens of all sizes.

Evening Bat Walk at Brigit’s Garden
Sunday 16th August, 9-10.45pm Free of charge, donations welcome
Learn about these fascinating creatures from ecologist Caitriona Carlin and identify them in the meadows and woods of Brigit’s Garden using bat detectors.

Trees in Irish culture - guided walk at Brigit’s Garden
Sunday 23rd August, 11am – 1pm Free of charge, donations welcome
Join nature guide Carol Barrett for an interactive walk through the woodlands at Brigit’s Garden to learn about our native trees and shrubs and their importance in Ireland’s culture and mythology. Carol will also discuss Ogham script, where each letter is related to a tree, and address the importance of nature in the Brehon laws. Everyone will have the opportunity to make an Ogham-based craft to take home.

Family storytelling workshop in the woods at Brigit’s Garden
Sunday 23rd August, 2-3.45pm Free of charge, donations welcome
Join storyteller and forest school leader Carol Barrett in the woods at Brigit's Garden for an interactive storytelling workshop that will bring Irish nature-based myths and legends alive for children. Be prepared to get involved, dress up and have lots of fun! Suitable for adults with children aged 4+, but younger ones also welcome.
There will be costumes, masks and materials to get creative with and help act out the stories and legends.
The workshop will be held under a large outdoor shelter which provides a dry, weatherproof space amongst the native trees.

Brigit’s Garden special events
- Events may be cancelled where a Met Eireann orange or red weather warning is in place, or in other unavoidable circumstances.
- Admission is at the ticket holder’s own risk. Brigit’s Garden will not be held liable for any loss, injuries or damages sustained at the event including damage, theft or losses to property and motor vehicles if the cause is due to the negligence of the ticket holder or the unforeseeable actions of other patrons or third parties.
- We reserve the right to refuse admission in order to ensure the security, safety and comfort of all guests.
- Dogs are not permitted at special events.
Media
- We may arrange for photographers to take photos or video at special events. We will ensure that close-up photos or videos of you or your family will only be taken with your written consent. We will let you know who is taking the photos, what they might be used for and how they will be stored.
- There may also be independent media present as well, who will also seek appropriate consents.
- We use photos and video to publicise future events on the website and in press releases, and to upload to our website and social media channels.
